Trey McIntyre Project in Southeast Asia

Trey McIntyre Project in Southeast Asia!

Trey McIntyre Project will be traveling to the Philippines, Vietnam, China, and South Korea leaving on May 5 and spending a week in each country. TMP is touring as part of DanceMotion USAsm, a program of  the U.S. State Department and the Brooklyn Academy of Music. We are so thrilled to be sharing our love of dance and art with people around the world.
The dancers have all of their vaccinations for the trip and their passports and visas are arriving today. We recently finished our first tour meeting prepping for our travels and have received our DanceMotion USAsm t-shirts, pins, and luggage tags.
Thank you to the State Department, DanceMotion USAsm and Brooklyn Academy of Music for making this tour possible.

US Department of State and BAM announce Season Two of DanceMotion USA

Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) has again been selected by the US Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) as grantee and administrator of the second season of DanceMotion USA. This cultural diplomacy program, which shares the United States’ rich dance culture with international audiences, sends four American dance companies on cultural exchange tours to four world regions beginning in early 2012.

Building on the success of the pilot season, the upcoming season will also feature one additional US company, thereby enhancing its reach to global audiences, especially those in underserved areas. It will also include a US-based cultural exchange, in which an international dance ensemble will travel to the US to share its culture through dance as well as experience American culture firsthand.

2012 DanceMotion USA Tour To Include Enhanced Programming

DanceMotion USA will again offer innovative, high-caliber artistic work to global audiences that might not otherwise have access to performances and related educational activities from established American artists. Companies will perform and participate in outreach events, workshops, master classes, media interviews, and discussions with international artists and local audiences in a wide variety of venues and settings—all of which serve to deepen engagement between international and US artists and audiences.

This year’s program will add additional activities, including arts management workshops for in-country partners and venues. Building on the success of the pilot season, the upcoming season will feature one additional US company, thereby enhancing its reach to global audiences, especially those in underserved areas.

Enhanced programming will also include a US-based cultural exchange, in which an international dance ensemble will travel to the US to share its culture through dance as well as experience American culture firsthand.
